Manipulating phonons of a trapped-ion system using optical tweezers

چکیده
We propose an experimental architecture where array of optical tweezers affords site-dependent control over the confining potential a conventional radio-frequency ion trap. The enables programmable manipulation phonon modes ions, with many applications in quantum information processing (QIP) and thermodynamics. describe protocols for programming to attain set target high accuracy. such controls simulating thermodynamics particle effective mass via Jarzynski's equality improving efficiency sympathetic cooling logic gates multispecies system disparate masses. discuss required parameters realistic trap adverse effects QIP. Our scheme extends utility trapped ions as platform computation simulation.
